MeisTerra

MeisTerra is the name for a project by Ingrid Rodriguez and Thijs Bollen.

MeisTerra will take the form of a social enterprise because we want to realize a philosophy rather than just making profit. This philosophy is about new attitudes; attitudes towards 'the other', status, art, sustainability and education, to be materialized in one tangible product, namely a newly designed 'sociable', that is a trike for all ages with two seats next to each other in stead of behind each other. The trike will make a maximum amount of use of old bicycle parts and use(d) (ply)wood for the frame construction. So it will be a newly designed product partly composed from second hand parts, but apart from refurbishing, the trike will really shine through its personalized, yet affordable artwork.

The to be realized workshops are specifically intended for giving a (second) chance to people that for some reason fell out of accepted social routes (e.g. ex-convicts, ex-addicts, school drop-outs, jobless and/or disabled persons, conscientious objectors, immigrants, or people with limitations in social functioning) to start working and learning in their own pace with the possibility to get a qualification as craftsman.
